Today’s group of students are from Connecticut and they are know worldwide as the brainwaves.  This amazing and energetic group of students have their own blog where they showcase all of their group wide learning.  You can find them at thebrainwaves.us.  I absolutely love their display of knowledge about the book The Tale of Despereaux.  This teacher used a green screen to create the effects.  It is really neat.  In fact, I am including their book trailer today so that you can have the opportunity to enjoy it as well.

It is amazing how we can display the knowledge that we have today.  This teacher does an amazing job of letting his students explore and learn.  It was such an honor to be a part of the Brainwaves classroom.

I had the opportunity to read Thanksgiving Day by Gail Gibbons.  When I asked the students if they had ever heard of Gail Gibbons, they had said yes.  Gail Gibbons is a non-fiction writer and I had the wonderful opportunity to meet her in person in San Antonio, Texas at the International Reading Associations yearly convention. I was absolutely amazed by the amount of books that she has written.

I could go on and on about Gail Gibbons and why she is one of my favorite non-fiction authors, but I think that what the Brainwaves are doing in Connecticut is just as exciting.  Take a look for yourself and let us know what you think?
